Walwis Bay Lagoon kayaking

Kayaking  in Walwis Bay

We had booked a kayaking trip with Pecican Point Kayaking. This turned out to be a superb way to get close to birdlife and marine mammals in Walwis Bay. We started early morning in Walvis Bay harbor where we were equipped with: warm jackets and life jackets and dry bags for cameras.

Then we took a 4WD drive through the saltpans to launch the kayaks beside the seal colony, at Pelican Point. The kayaking was very gentle, more like drifting around the seals. It´s not really a kayak tour. It lasted about two hours before we had sandwiches and hot drinks on the beach next to the seal colony. On the water, the inquisitive seals came close, playing and splashing around. We did not see dolphins or whales, but it was a nice way to spend a morning.
